Event Development,
Management, and Marketing
BGA
produced its first conference in 1975 for SPIE, the Society of Photo-Optical
Instrumentation engineers. Since then, we have conceived, developed,
managed, produced and marketed well over 100 professional events.
Here are some notable examples which illustrate the range of size
and type of our events as well the the diversity of our activities.

CyberArts
International
Miller
Freeman Expositions
As Director of Business Development for the Expo division, Bob was
responsible for acquiring and launching a number of events, most
of which involved emerging technologies and markets.
This conference,
expo, and concert-style showcase was the first true digital media
symposium to serve the arts and entertainment world. Many new tools
and technologies made their debut at CyberArts. A 10-year anniversary
celebration was held in 2001. Sponsored by Keyboard Magazine in
association with Verbum.

Licensing
International
Advanstar Communications
The producers of this world-class event were looking for an independent
provider of marketing expertise to produce both their exhibitor and
attendee campaign materials. In a "down" economy and a slumping
radeshow industry, they have maintained their customer base and expect
to increase their numbers this year. Approximately 400 exhibitors,
20,000 attendees, and many
many custom features. |

CFC
Alternatives Conference
Miller Freeman
Expositions
We launched this conference on behalf of Circuits Manufacturing
Magazine to serve the critical needs of electronics manufacturers
facing tough environmental regulation of their chemical processes.
We designed the conference, planned and executed all of the marketing
and handled the onsite logistics.
Over the three
years that the topic was relevant, the show grew 300% and the results
included a cleaner environment and more profitable manufacturers.

National
Music Expo
Miller Freeman
Expositions
We designed and conducted research for the publishers of Keyboard,
Guitar Player and Bass Player magazines to support the launch of this
ambitious series of multiple annual events. We then created all marketing
materials and submitted an operations plan that was later employed
by in-house staff. Exhibitors were manufacturers of musical instruments
and attendees were amateur and professional players. The event featured
workshops with big-name artists and concerts as well as product exhibition.

Seminars
Key3Media
This seminar and expo series helped create the desktop publishing
industry. When the Internet changed that forever, they were quick
to evolve, integrating new media expertise into their conference,
inaugurating new expo features and making a concerted outreach via
print, email, and promotional tie-ins. We were brought in to devise
and execute several of those projects over a three year period. |

Innovation Conference
Softbank Forums
In the height of the Internet boom, we were tabbed to consult on the
development of a conference program exploring advanced technologies
and standards for the Web Developer community. We also recruited speakers
for much of the program and moderated two of its sessions. |

Software
Development Conference
CMP
Events
Before becoming the technology powerhouse it is today, the Software
Development Conference was a struggling young event at Miller Freeman.
We created PR materials and programs that helped the show grow, and
it was ultimately acquired by CMP. |

The
Digital Be-In
Verbum
Events
1960s counter-culture consciousness meets digital era creativity.
The resulting event is part art gallery, part exposition, part concert.
Although similar in some aspects to the CyberArts Festivals, the
Digital Be-Ins were not focused on professionals or the media trades.
This open-to-the-public event originated as a MacWorld Expo evening
event and evolved into a stand-alone feature in San Francisco for
many years.
Each Be-In had
a theme concept. The 10th anniversary event (poster pictured at
left) focusedon Human Rights in Cyberspace, coinciding with the
50th anniversary of the United Nations Universal Declaration of
Human Rights.
Bob served as
producer for six years.

Verbum
Events
Held at the legendary urban experimental city Arcosanti, Arizona,
this mutli-disciplinary confab drew leaders
from the arts, sciences, and social pursuits to explore how new discoveries
and technological progress can be better employed to serve the human
condition and give us a better future. BGA participated in two of
these biennial events, providing programming consultation, public
and press relations, and technology and logistics to support a network
connection with a simultaneous event in San Francisco.
